The short version

The four steps, in detail.

The same four steps shown on the homepage, with the mechanics behind each stage.

1

Verify once

  • Onboarding follows a fixed order: profile, resume, identity, then skills. Each step must be completed before the next becomes available.
  • Skills verification is never scored. Submitting it completes the step and confirms you engaged with the exercise.
  • Identity is reviewed once by a person on our team, giving every partner confidence in who they're hiring.
2

Get matched

  • Your recruiter matches your verified profile against live reqs from partners like Upwork, LinkedIn, Outlier, Handshake, RWS, and OneForma.
  • You're placed directly with the partner, rather than added to a queue of applicants for the same posting.
  • No upfront fee at this stage, or at any other stage in the process.
3

Your recruiter manages it

  • Every application re-checks your identity verification before it can move to its next stage, not just once, but at every stage.
  • This safeguard protects both you and the partner. No application advances on a stale or unverified identity.
  • Scheduling, paperwork, and follow-up are handled by your recruiter and reflected live in your dashboard.
4

Get paid on time

  • Your wallet is a manual ledger. The moment you request a withdrawal, that amount moves from your available balance into pending.
  • This happens when you submit the request, not when it's approved, so your balance always reflects reality.
  • Available and pending balances are both visible in your dashboard at all times.
Behind the scenes

What happens after you're matched to a role

Once your recruiter places you with a partner, your application moves through seven stages. Here's what each one actually feels like from your side.

1
Account Creation

You set up your Remotie account

This creates your candidate profile, the record your recruiter and every future partner will reference. It's also the first of four strictly sequential onboarding steps: profile, then resume, then identity, then skills.

2
Resume Optimization

Your recruiter helps sharpen your resume

Rather than leaving you to guess what a partner wants to see, your recruiter works with you to frame your experience for the specific kind of AI training work you're pursuing.

3
Virtual Interview

A conversation with your recruiter

A short call with your recruiter to confirm the role is genuinely a fit before you're introduced to a partner, so you go into the interview prepared.

4
Identity Verification

Confirming your identity

A document and identity check, reviewed by a person on our team. The same check is re-confirmed before your application can advance at every later stage, functioning as a standing safeguard rather than a one-time step.

5
Technical Assessment

A hands-on look at the actual work

A short exercise reflecting the kind of task you'd do day to day, such as labeling, evaluation, or review work, depending on the role. As with all skills-based steps on Remotie, completing the exercise is what unlocks the next stage; it is not scored.

6
Job Offer / Contract Agreement

The offer and the contract

Your recruiter reviews the offer and contract with you and the partner, covering rate, scope, and start date, so there are no surprises by the time you sign.

7
Onboarding & Kickoff

Set up and ready for day one

Access, tools, and any partner-specific setup are handled before your start date, so your first day is spent working rather than tracking down logins.

Getting paid

Full visibility into your wallet, at every stage.

Remotie's wallet is a manual ledger, not an automated payment processor. When you request a withdrawal, the amount is reserved from your available balance and marked pending immediately, ahead of approval.

  • Available balance and pending withdrawals shown separately, always
  • The reservation happens the moment you submit the request, ahead of approval
  • No upfront fees to candidates at any point in the process

Process questions

Common questions about the process

What if I don't get verified?
Identity verification is a human-reviewed check required before you can apply to a role or advance an application to its next stage. If a submission isn't approved, your recruiter will explain what's needed and how to resubmit.
How long does matching take?
Timing depends on which roles are open and how closely your background fits current partner reqs. Because you're matched to specific openings rather than submitted broadly, timing varies by candidate. Your dashboard and your recruiter will reflect exactly where things stand.
Do I need to re-verify for every job?
Your identity is verified once during onboarding. Each application then independently re-checks that verification before it can move to its next stage. This is a standing safeguard for partners and candidates alike, rather than a repeat of the original process each time.
What happens after I'm placed?
Once you accept an offer, onboarding and kickoff logistics with the partner are handled so you're ready to start. From there, work you complete is tracked toward payouts in your Remotie wallet, and your recruiter remains your point of contact for any questions that come up.
